The Muse Awakens Art Performance

Yesterday, on 9 December 2025, Dutch artist Nancy Faas presented an art performance titled The Muse Awakens during a vernissage at Hotel De L’Europe Amsterdam. Faas, known for creating worlds in which bronze sculpture, fashion, dance, and symbolism come together, once again brought a layered and enchanting universe to life. The performance, centered around her narrative of the Muses, was also recorded for television for the RTL 4 program Wishing on a Star, where presenter Carolien ter Linden and Nancy Faas together selected a model as the winner.

The Muse Awakens was performed in collaboration with dancers from the Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts. It was a continuation of her earlier campaign this year, The Dream of The Muse, filmed in La Croix Valmer.

“At the Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts we train new generations for a future in the performing arts. By collaborating with an established artist who is active internationally in performance art, we not only offer our students deeper professional development, but also contribute to the artistic enrichment of society. Art is for everyone, and it is important that people of all ages are exposed to it.” — Lucia Marthas

During the performance, the Muse awakened from her dream world, a powerful expression of transformation, equality, and freedom. Faas describes it as follows: “The Muse does not awaken as a mythical being from another time, but as a human of today, free to be whoever you want to be. The dancers of Lucia Marthas conveyed this beautifully, and I am incredibly grateful for this artistic collaboration.”

Highlights of the day included the release of doves to symbolize freedom as the ultimate manifesto of liberation, and the launch of new collections: Love is a Battlefield, the title of her bronze chess pieces; the L’Ode Parfum Necklace, a unique piece inspired by the Sacred Heart, the Ode to Woman, translated into an ode to yourself. For this pendant, Nancy Faas developed her own fragrance. In addition, she created a more extensive jewelry collection called The Muse Collection Jewels.

In the lead-up to 2026, Faas is preparing for more international projects. On 30 January 2026, she will present another performance during Paris Fashion Week at the prestigious Atelier Néerlandais, where art, couture, and sculptural art come together. The winner of the RTL program will also walk in this show. The theme of this performance will be announced soon. Faas’s work is represented internationally, including at Hotel De L’Europe Amsterdam, Art Villa Les Trois Illes in La Croix Valmer, and Galerie Sol in Saint Tropez. She works from her studios in Blaricum and La Croix Valmer. The vernissage in the heart of Amsterdam offered guests a rare glimpse into the narrative world of Nancy Faas.
