A Symphony of Couture and Sculptures to Wear: Nancy Faas Presents a Unique Fusion of Fashion, Jewelry, and Art During Paris Fashion Week.
Paris, February 1, 2025 – Yesterday, during Paris Fashion Week, an extraordinary fusion took place at the well-known Atelier Néerlandais. Under the title A Symphony of Couture and Sculptures to Wear, artist and jewelry designer Nancy Faas, together with fashion designer Irving Vorster, unveiled a breathtaking symbiosis of avant-garde jewelry, fashion, and performance art.
Fashion designer Irving Vorster presented his new couture collection, named ECLECTIVM. In ECLECTIVM, Vorster revisits his own design history, creating remakes of selected items from previous collections, enriched by a play on optical illusions. The 2025 collection is an eclectic style mix of Vorster’s past fashion years.
Nancy Faas introduced her latest avant-garde jewelry collection, Sculptures to Wear, a series of expressive bronze sculptures designed to be worn as jewelry. The collection, titled Muse & Me, is inspired by the muses that Nancy previously captured in bronze sculptures, now transformed into wearable art, allowing individuals to become living artworks themselves. Each piece is infused with hidden symbolism and crafted in her signature, thoughtful style. The collection embodies Faas’ vision of merging art with wearable sculptures.
Additionally, the event showcased two muses from a twelve-piece sculpture series paying tribute to women: Tanit and Madonna. Tanit was a Phoenician goddess, protector of Carthage, and revered as a deity of fertility, the stars, and the moon. Her symbol, a stylized figure with outstretched arms, represents life and protection. Madonna, named after both the Virgin Mary and an iconic pop phenomenon, blends spiritual symbolism with worldly expression. She has influenced music, fashion, and feminism by breaking taboos and celebrating self-expression. She stands as a symbol of strength, creativity, and continuous reinvention. Recently exhibited at the Masters Expo, the muses aim to inspire and empower women: Be Your Own Muse!
The highlight of the performance was an exceptional art experience, named The Muses Are Alive. In this performance, the nine muses from Greek mythology were brought to life in a dynamic and evocative spectacle. The models showcased various looks, ranging from black clothing with catsuits, tulle skirts, hats, and headpieces, all complemented by sculptures to wear and matching attributes such as a flute, telescope, or mirror. The kimono collection by Nancy Faas, which she launched last year, also made an appearance. The kimono and kaftan pieces in the ‘Let’s Get Dressed’ collection blend tattoo-inspired storytelling with wearable art. The models began as still statues and slowly came to life, each moving in a unique rhythm that reflected her character.
The presentation at Atelier Néerlandais marked a significant milestone in the artistic journey of Nancy Faas, who works from her studios in Blaricum and La Croix Valmer, France. With her creations, ranging from sculptures and kimonos to custome jewelry, she continues to push the boundaries between art and fashion.
